I’ve found it. Another New York shop destined to become a favorite.I don’t know how I hadn’t heard of Huminska, on 9th Street between 1st and 2nd, but now, I’ll be sure to return whenever I’m in NYC. Tiny and adorable, it’s the kind of place where the owner is helping you fit your dress, making suggestions–but never in an annoying way–and where you really feel like you are supporting a truly independent shop. (Oh, and did I mention that everything is hand sewn in Brooklyn?)
As you might imagine, the dresses don’t come cheap, but for that perfect thing for just the right occasion?
Designs are varied and there was plenty to fit me, but also styles for my mom that were age appropriate (and still had plenty of pizzazz.)
Hours vary, so be sure to call ahead. It’s worth it!
